Meet Dr. Diane Cheney
Dr. Diane Holloway Cheney is an accomplished author, psychologist, and researcher whose work spans history, culture, and human behavior. Her unique career began in the medical field as a psychiatric nurse at Parkland Hospital in Dallas during one of the most pivotal moments in American history—the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.
While training to become a psychologist, her experiences during this time profoundly shaped her intellectual direction. Encouraged by FBI Director James Abbott, she went on to write multiple books examining the JFK assassination, contributing valuable insight into a case that continues to fascinate historians and the public alike.
Dr. Cheney’s career evolved from psychoanalytic psychology into public service and law enforcement collaboration. She was instrumental in developing the first assessment center for the Dallas Police Department, applying psychological principles to real-world systems.
Her expertise led to her appointment by Mayor Annette Strauss as Drug Coordinator for the City of Dallas. In this role, she had access to critical investigative materials, including documents recovered from Lee Harvey Oswald’s residence. Over a decade of intensive research further enriched her understanding and writings on this historic event.
